ABOUT

Tom is a filmmaker, animator and illustrator living in Eilat, Israel.
Since she was a young curious girl Tom practiced writing, drawing, creating characters and making up stories which continued into her adult life. She graduated with honors from the School of Audio and Visual Arts at Sapir Academic College (BFA), specializing in traditional animation.

As a filmmaker, Tom draws inspiration from real life women and their struggles, big or small. She finds it especially interesting to explore what’ll happen when their unique stories meet the easy lines and light movement of traditional frame by frame animation.

Her film “Losing my Religion” is a documentary animation telling the story of an Israeli couple who must go through the orthodox conversion process on their way to being married. It faces social and religious issues within the Israeli society and screened in several festivals world wide.

She is a leader and a mentor in Eilat’s growing artists community and one of the founders of the local artists foundation SOOFSOOF. Together they’ve initiated street art collaborations, knowledge sharing events and creative community activities, creating a strong network for the local artists.

In 2020, she launched Artik Studio, an online platform where artists can teach and share their wisdom, learn from each other and grow together.

These days she’s working on a new independent documentary film and illustrating characters and children’s books.
